Healthy Job Market Expected for San Antonio, TX

December 11, 2012 – San Antonio, TX MSA employers expect to hire at a solid pace during Quarter 1 2013, according to the Manpower Employment Outlook Survey.

From January to March, 23% of the companies interviewed plan to hire more employees, while 7% expect to reduce staff. Another 66% expect to maintain their current workforce levels and 4% are not certain of their hiring plans. This yields a Net Employment Outlook* of 16%.

“Hiring activity is expected to slightly increase during the first quarter of 2013 compared to the fourth quarter of 2012 when the Net Employment Outlook was 14%,” said Manpower spokesperson Robert Everhart. “Employers expect improved employment prospects compared with one year ago when the Net Employment Outlook was 9%.”

For the coming quarter, job prospects appear best in Construction, Durable Goods Manufacturing, Non-Durable Goods Manufacturing, Transportation & Utilities, Wholesale & Retail Trade, Financial Activities, Professional & Business Services, Education & Health Services and Leisure & Hospitality. Employers in Information and Government plan to reduce staffing levels, while hiring in Other Services is expected to remain unchanged.
